Marie Ange Raissa
Uwamungu

At the age of 23, Marie Ange Raissa Uwamungu, a Rwandan lady, founded Impanuro Girls Initiative, an organisation grounded in the community and committed to sustainable transformation of the lives of vulnerable girls and women they serve.

Raissa is strongly passionate about the wellbeing of people with a focus on advocating for girls and women’s rights. She has completed The GenderPro Capacity Building & Credentialing Program, hosted at the George Washington University in partnership with UNICEF, and she is a Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) and Women in Innovation alumna.

She has attended several national and international conferences, trainings and meetings that have increased her sector knowledge, shaped her leadership skills and expanded her network. She is a Board Member of the African Youth and Adolescents Network (AfriYAN) Rwanda Chapter, and she took part in a series of co-creation sessions for the development of the first ever Pan-African SRH digital hub in Youth Power Hub.

Raissa is also a Professional Translator, Transcriber, and Mentor. Thanks to her ambitious spirit and driven by a desire to change people’s lives, she founded Impanuro Girls Initiative (IGI) and serves as its Executive Director. Raissa is a natural and creative leader, and a people person. She likes to spend after work hours reading, planning events, travelling and listening to music. She is a big fan of discovering new places as well as meeting new people.
