IMPA-NU-RO is a Kinyarwanda word that translates as “good advice”.
Impanuro Girls’ Initiative (IGI) was founded by Marie Ange Raissa Uwamungu in 2017, in Kigali, Rwanda. The founder of the organisation was determined to address the teenage pregnancy issues as a result of poor or no access to Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) information and services among others.
Inspired and committed to transforming the lives of vulnerable young girls in her own community, she was also joined by other young women, thus the foundation of Impanuro Girls’ Initiative (IGI).
